What it measures
Belonging is among the strongest predictors of attendance, participation and achievement — and among the most overlooked, because it does not show up in the grades. The student who does not belong withdraws long before they fail.
How to read the result
Array
Before administering
Reassure the student that their classmates will not see their answers, and that the aim is to improve the class, not to judge them.
Its limits
It measures the sense of belonging only. It does not reveal school safety problems and it is not used as a substitute for the school's approved reporting channels.
